Research and Practice Conference “The IX Summer School of Rheumatologists of Kazakhstan”

The IX Summer School of Rheumatologists, held on June 27–28 2025y., in Astana, became a large-scale educational platform that brought together leading specialists, faculty members of medical universities, and residents of rheumatology programs from across Kazakhstan.

The department staff delivered presentations and served as moderators of the conference sessions.

At the conference, residents of the Department of Rheumatology presented clinical cases on systemic lupus erythematosus — first-year residents O.K. Sаtim and S. Kаribay; mixed connective tissue disease — K.S. Omargali; granulomatosis with polyangiitis — D. Dauletbayeva and A. Seidakhmet. O.K. Satim also presented on the use of digital tools in rheumatology. The presentations were distinguished by clinical maturity, a well-reasoned approach to diagnosis and treatment, and the active involvement of academic and clinical mentors in the discussion of the presented materials.

The format of live dialogue, questions from the audience, and a detailed analysis of clinical decisions contributed to the residents’ professional growth and highlighted the importance of the School as an environment for developing practice-oriented thinking in future specialists.

The Summer School concluded with a summary of results and the adoption of a final resolution outlining priorities for the further development of educational programs and clinical rheumatology in Kazakhstan. The conference once again confirmed its role as an important professional platform promoting intergenerational continuity and the development of the national school of rheumatology.

Research and Practice Conference “The XI Winter School of Rheumatologists of Kazakhstan”

The Department of Rheumatology, in cooperation with the City Rheumatology Center, held the XI Winter School of Rheumatologists of the Republic of Kazakhstan with international participation on December 5–6, 2025. The conference became a significant professional event, bringing together leading experts, practicing physicians, and young specialists from various regions of Kazakhstan and abroad.

At the School, the department’s residents — T.S. Pelenichenko, A.D. Polatkhan, S.K. Yersultanova, and Zh. Narimankyzy — delivered presentations that demonstrated a high level of clinical reasoning, a deep understanding of the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases, and confident command of modern diagnostic and treatment algorithms.

The presented clinical cases — adult-onset Still’s disease, Takayasu syndrome, and rare combined autoimmune conditions — generated strong interest among the audience and formed the basis for professional discussions with the participation of recognized experts. The presentations by the young physicians clearly illustrated the continuity of generations and the strong potential of the future of Kazakhstani rheumatology.

A logical continuation of this focus was the Young Scientists Competition, which brought together first- and second-year residents from across the country and became one of the most dynamic and emotionally engaging parts of the program. The конкурс entries were distinguished by their practical orientation, scientific validity, and relevance to real clinical practice.

It is worth noting that a graduate of the Department of Rheumatology residency program, Amir A., served as a member of the jury. The discussions were held in an atmosphere of open dialogue, and the expert panel highlighted not only the quality of the presented research, but also the confident delivery, clinical maturity, and research motivation of the participants — first- and second-year residents. Prize-winning places were awarded to first- and second-year residents of the Department of Rheumatology of KazNMU: first place – K. Omargali; second place – S. Rozybakiyeva.

The XI Winter School of Rheumatologists once again confirmed its status as a significant educational and scientific platform that promotes professional growth, exchange of experience, and the formation of a new generation of specialists ready to meet the modern challenges of rheumatology.
