5th-year students of S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University achieved outstanding success at the Republican Student Olympiad “Emergency Medical Care at the Prehospital Stage,” earning an honorable second place among the leading medical universities of Kazakhstan.
The Olympiad was held on April 30, 2026, at Astana Medical University and aimed to improve practical emergency care skills among medical students and interns.
The university was represented by:
- Kaliya Dzhuvanysheva
- Marsel Yuryev
- Kuralay Salamat
During the competition, participants completed complex simulation-based emergency scenarios designed to closely replicate real clinical situations. The tasks were performed using the high-fidelity simulation robot “Apollo.”
The students demonstrated strong competencies in:
- triage system management;
- primary patient assessment;
- SAMPLE and ABCDE evaluation algorithms;
- bleeding diagnosis and control;
- neurological assessment;
- Damage Control techniques;
- surgical wound treatment;
- pleural cavity puncture;
- ACLS procedures;
- tracheal intubation.
In addition to technical skills, the Olympiad also evaluated leadership, teamwork, communication with patients and colleagues, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
The KazNMU team demonstrated excellent practical training, critical thinking, professionalism, and strong teamwork throughout all stages of the competition.
Kaliya Dzhuvanysheva showed exceptional responsibility, attention to detail, and confident execution of emergency care algorithms.
Marsel Yuryev demonstrated leadership qualities, quick decision-making skills, and strong clinical reasoning during the simulation stages.
Kuralay Salamat displayed excellent communication skills, effective interaction with patients and teammates, and a high level of practical medical training.
Winning second place at the national level reflects the high quality of education at Asfendiyarov KazNMU and the strong professional preparation of its future healthcare specialists.
